Question on Notice No. 627

Asked on Tuesday, 26 August 2014

MR KNUTH asked the Minister for Transport and Main Roads (MR EMERSON)

 QUESTION:

Will the Minister advise if overturned fines and breaches have been removed from Queensland's data compiled for federal Austrans statistics?

ANSWER:

I thank the Member for Dalrymple for the question.

The statistics reported for Austrans to Australia New Zealand Policing Advisory Agency (ANZPAA) are drawn from an operational database which records activities undertaken in the course of the operation, including fines and breaches issued.

Owing to the reporting requirements of ANZPAA being a short timeframe after the operation concludes, there is insufficient time to check whether any fines and breaches have been overturned as these processes can potentially happen some months after they are issued. As such, the answer to the members question is no they have not; the statistics reported show fines and infringements issued in the course of Austrans.
